Adverse childhood experiences Support strategies Child development impacts Family structure understanding Outcome improvement

Adverse childhood experiences, or ACEs, are strongly linked to difficulties people may face later in life. If we want better outcomes for the next generation, it really helps to understand ACEs and focus on preventing them where we can.

Course Overview

Some adverse childhood experiences happen directly, like physical abuse. Others are less obvious, for instance when parents separate or divorce. Research shows these experiences can seriously affect how a child grows and develops, and in some cases they can shorten life expectancy. In this course, you'll learn practical ways to support individuals who have experienced ACEs, and how to work through the challenges that can come with them.

This is a Technical Specialist qualification. To complete the knowledge requirements, you should be employed in a suitable childcare setting.
