How This Sales and Marketing Course Works
With our diploma in Sales and Marketing, you can choose to study a Level 4 (120 credits), a Level 5 (120 credits), or combine both into a Level 4 & 5 diploma (240 credits). The whole idea is to help you develop the skills you’ll need to succeed in the marketing space.

This diploma is delivered online, so you can start at any time. It’s genuinely flexible. For each module at Level 4 or Level 5, you’ll follow 40 hours of guided study online. On top of that, you’ll also have another 30 to 50 hours of optional materials. These usually include suggested exercises, readings, digital resources, and self-check tasks.

To finish the diploma online, you’ll submit 10 online assignments at Level 4 and 6 online assignments at Level 5. The assignments are roughly 5,000 to 8,000 words each. Once you successfully complete your diploma, you’ll receive your qualification. After that, you can top up to a bachelor’s degree with a selection of UK universities.

Throughout the course, you’ll have access to 1-2-1 tutor support and webinars. There are also social learning forums and extra materials to help you stay on track. If you want to see exactly what support is included, check the Student Resources page. You can also review the academic credentials and professional associations involved, so you know you’re learning with proper standards behind you, even while working towards your Sales and Marketing qualification.
Course Modules
Level 4 Module Listing
The business environment
When people hear the word “environment,” they usually think of their surroundings. In a business context, though, it means everything that surrounds an organisation, including what’s happening outside the business and the factors within it too. Understanding these influences is a big part of making smarter decisions.

Customers and customer service
This module begins by looking at customers and how they decide what to buy. You’ll explore the factors people consider when purchasing everyday items like food, books, tech, or even something as big as a house. You’ll also look at how organisations decide which supplier or company to choose when they need a new system. Before you can market confidently, you need a clear understanding of customer thinking, including the attributes and benefits customers are actually looking for.

Marketing mix
Marketing involves working with two types of factors. First, you have elements tied to the outside world, including the macro-environment (the wider forces such as political, economic, social, and technological trends) and the micro-environment (the competitive reality of the industry you’re in). These outside factors are mostly out of your control.

The second group is the operational variables. These are the areas where a business can make choices and manage the outcome more directly.

Marketing and sales planning
Marketing and sales matter in every type of business. In private companies, strong marketing and sales planning are seen as essential for profitability and for building market success. In public and charitable sectors, the focus shifts. It’s often less about profit and more about making sure customers, or wider stakeholders, are satisfied.

Marketing also plays a major role for non-profit organisations, helping them raise awareness, support important causes, and communicate with more than one audience, including donors.

IT in business
There’s strong evidence that information technology can give businesses an edge. But the key is knowing how to use IT effectively in day to day work and in external processes too, so the organisation can deliver better value for the end customer.

Managing and using marketing
This module gives you a clear introduction to marketing and what it involves. It’s written to be useful across a wide range of organisations and industries, not only businesses that chase profit.

Customers and their needs
Modern marketing isn’t just about promoting products. Its goal is to recognise what customers need and want, then meet those needs in a meaningful way. Often, that means building relationships and creating two way communication. Customers share their preferences, and businesses respond with product and information that matches what customers are looking for.

E-marketing communications
The internet changed everything. The growth of the World Wide Web, along with connected technologies, has reshaped how organisations run their operations. A lot of traditional activities, including sales, communications, customer service, and marketing, now have a technological layer that makes them easier to manage and more scalable.

High performance sales
An organisation’s results depend on many moving parts: operations, marketing strategy, how it manages people, and how it handles sales. One of the most common ways to measure success is sales growth. Strong sales growth often shows that the business can retain existing customers and also bring in new buyers from different markets.

Marketing strategy
How do organisations make strategy when the marketing environment is complicated and constantly changing? How do they spot chances and threats, decide which markets and segments to focus on, and justify those choices? You’ll also look at how businesses choose positioning that fits their strengths, and what product range should be kept for long term value.

Level 5 module listing
The entrepreneurial manager
What does it really mean to be an entrepreneur? In this module, you’ll examine the key skills and traits linked with entrepreneurship and how they show up in real business settings.

Organisation structures
Why do organisations choose the structures they do? What leads to the “right” structure, and how is it different across businesses? Learners will explore different organisational structure models and theories to understand what works and when.

Practical accounting analysis
Throughout the module, learners will complete account based tasks to understand what the figures are telling you. You’ll also explore what decisions and actions analysis can lead to.

Business planning and goal setting
What is the business trying to achieve? What steps will it take to get there, and how will those steps be carried out? This module focuses on creating clear goals and turning them into practical plans.

Politics and business
Politics can support business growth, but it can also create challenges. This module helps learners understand political influence, including economic impact, exports, and how government support can affect organisations.

Business law
You’ll explore the legal duties managers have, while looking at the rules and responsibilities that apply to businesses and business leaders.

Managing in today’s world
This module focuses on how modern businesses operate, with particular attention on governance and equality, so you understand what it means to do things the right way.

Performance management
You’ll look at how teams and organisations can improve together over time. Learners will review reward structures, CPD, training, and development, all with the goal of supporting high performance.

Marketing and sales planning
Learners will analyse how markets, customers, competitors, and products can come together into one joined up plan.

Quantitative skills
Once you complete this module, you’ll understand numeric exercises and how they connect to real business situations.
