In those really early years, what children go through can leave a lasting mark on how they feel inside later on. Here, you’ll explore the kinds of experiences that may be traumatic for a child, and learn practical ways to offer support.
Mental Health in the Early Years
Skills covered in this course
Learn how to support young children with their mental health
For young children, both close relationships and tough childhood experiences can shape mental well-being. This course walks you through the key factors that can influence the well-being of children from birth up to the age of five, and explains how mental health and well-being should be supported in early years settings.
It’s also important to take a child’s emotional health seriously, not as an afterthought. Throughout the course, you’ll cover the statutory expectations for early years provisions, including how key workers make a real difference when supporting children day to day.
This is a Technical Specialist qualification, so to complete the course you’ll need to be working in a relevant childcare setting and meet the knowledge requirements.
