Skills covered in this course

Autism diagnosis process autism support strategies co-occurring conditions treatment safeguarding duties responsibilities therapeutic options available

In this course, you’ll explore Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a clear, detailed way, including where it came from historically, how diagnosis works, and how autism can look different from person to person. You’ll build your confidence and learn practical ways to offer support.

Increase your understanding of Autism

Autism can show up in lots of different ways, and what someone needs can vary hugely. Research from the National Autistic Society points to a real gap in understanding autism and the kinds of support that genuinely help autistic people and their families. If you want to feel more informed, this course walks you through the support and therapeutic options available, so you know what’s out there and how it can make a difference.

Throughout the course, you’ll also cover conditions that often appear alongside autism, along with the treatment approaches that may be used. On top of that, you’ll look at safeguarding duties and what those responsibilities involve, plus how to help autistic individuals move toward a full and meaningful life.

How will I study?

We call our online courses “flexible” because they’re built to fit around your day. You’ll get access to our learning platform, and you’ll work through your assessments with support from a specialist tutor who knows the subject well.

The course takes 20 weeks to complete.

We refer to it as flexible learning because you can work through it alongside your job and home responsibilities. Once you’re enrolled, your online platform will show all course deadlines, which is really helpful for staying organised and on schedule.
