Build the skills you need to be a steady, helpful presence for children who have special educational needs and disabilities.

Support children with special educational needs and disabilities

Only around 10% of children with special educational needs (SEN) are in mainstream schools, so giving them the right level of support really matters. This Level 3 course walks you through the different things that can shape how children and young people grow and develop from the very start of life.

You’ll look at the current legislation that guides day to day practice, then explore how to bring children, young people, and carers into learning and development services through reflective practice. You’ll also learn practical ways to encourage positive progress, while dealing with attitudes or behaviours that might hold back learning opportunities.

How will I study?

We call our online courses “flexible” because they’re built to fit around everything else you already have going on. Once you join, you’ll get access to our online learning platform, where you’ll complete your assessments with help from a tutor who specialises in the subject.

How long is the course?

This course takes 17 weeks to complete.

We use the term “flexible learning” for a reason. The course is designed so you can work through it alongside your job and your home commitments. You’ll see all deadlines in your online course space after you enrol, which helps you stay organised and on schedule.
