Course Entry Requirements
Our Access to Higher Education Diplomas come with entry requirements you’ll need to meet:
- You must be 19 or older when your course starts
- You’ll need a Level 2 Maths and English qualification (GCSE or an equivalent) including Level 2 qualifications completed outside of England. During enrolment, we’ll ask you to provide copies of your certificates
- Full access to a laptop
- Access to the internet
- Must live in England
Most applicants are expected to have at least two Level 2 qualifications or more. That said, we may still be able to review applicants who only have an English qualification. If you need it, support for Functional Skills in English and/or Maths can be provided while you’re on the Access to HE course.
As part of our enrolment process, you’ll complete a telephone interview and a written task. This helps us confirm the course level is right for you.
Requirements for progressing to university:
Many students use the Access to Higher Education Diploma as a stepping stone toward a longer term goal of university study.
While your tutors will help and guide you with your application, it’s still up to you to check the exact entry requirements for the specific course at the university you want to move on to.
Assessment Method
Your Access to HE Diploma is split into units that include 45 graded credits and 15 credits that aren’t graded. Across the modules, you’ll complete a series of assignments, and these will come together in your online portfolio. Assessment is carried out through formal written work that builds a clear record of your progress.
Throughout the course, you’ll be expected to join live online sessions, but there’s also time to work independently. You’ll have support from one of our specialist tutors for the duration of your programme.
Who is this course suitable for?
Access courses are aimed at people who have been away from education for a while. So if you left school without the qualifications you needed to go straight into university, this can be a really solid option. You’ll build a helpful level of knowledge and skills so you feel ready to start a degree. Whether you’re changing careers, getting back into study after a break from work and education, or trying to follow a subject you genuinely care about, an Access to HE course might be the right fit for you.
Is this an accredited course?
Yes, this course is accredited by AIM Group. When you finish, you’ll receive a national qualification that many universities in England and Wales accept as an entry requirement.
How long is this course?
These courses are designed to be studied part-time over 47 weeks. We structure your learning to match university timetables, using grouped terms called modules.
How will you study?
Our Access to HE Diplomas are delivered online, which means you can learn wherever you are. You’ll log into our online platform, work through content independently, and take part in interactive sessions that support what you’re learning.
